If you passed your car (B) driving licence after January 1997 you will be required to take a towing test if your combined weight (car and trailer together) exceeds 3.5t. This is a highly popular licence for anyone who wishes to tow a caravan, horse trailer, car transporter or tree surgeon trailer.
To complete a Car and Trailer Licence or the B+E licence you will need to complete the following steps:
- Eyesight Test.
You will need to be able meet the legal eyesight standard for driving using glasses or corrective lenses if required.
- Driving Course with your Driving Test on the last day.
We offer courses to suit every individual. If you have never driven or reversed a trailer and would like to know a bit more before you commit to a course, we offer a ‘Taster Session’ for 1 ½ hours.
We have our own reverse training pad, which enables a student to spend as much time as required to prefect the art of reversing before test.
At Billy Thomas HGV we offer you the opportunity to use your own towing vehicle subject to it meeting required DVSA test regulations. We provide mirrors, L plates and a weighted trailer required by examiners for the training & your test. If you would prefer to hire a towing vehicle from us this we can also offer this service.
Please call 01902 744726 for course prices.
